15th May - Boscastle Visit

This week we started a new narrative, writing an adventure story based on the book “Float” by Danial Miyares. As well as some beautiful illustrations throughout the book, the children were fascinated by the pages showing how to make an old fashioned paper boat. They followed the instructions for making these out of newspaper articles from the day of the Boscastle Floods ready for out visit later on in the week.

Trip to Boscastle

This week we visited the village of Boscastle to find evidence of the impact of the flood of 2004. We were able to see footage of the flood in the National Trust Centre as well as see how recent flood defences are now reducing the likelihood of such a catastrophic event happening in Boscastle again. The children also used their mapping skills to record the geographical landscape by the river.
