COVID -19 update
Aspire Academy Trust is following to DfE guidance (June 18th) and subsequent Local Authority guidance in all matters related to SEND.
Each child with an EHCP is being robustly supported through a risk assessment. Each case is evaluated on an individual basis in collaboration with families and other agencies. Due to COVID - 19 some elements of plans cannot be safely delivered despite all reasonable endeavours. In the same way, some elements of the SEND Information report /policy cannot be delivered in full. The DfE recognises that we need to consider 'what can reasonably be provided during this temporary period'. This will be reviewed in September 2020.

SEN Covid-19 Education Resources

This page is full of resources, activities, ideas and support, it’s been designed to help inspire children with SEND and their families throughout their home learning journey.

The page is updated weekly and is designed for families that are currently supporting home learning. Resources have been uploaded by Cornwall Council’s Sen Services and the page is laid out into subjects and primary need.
At Delabole Community Primary School all children are valued, respected and welcomed to our school whatever their additional educational need. We will support their learning and ensure they are fully included in all school activities, making full use of externally provided facilities where appropriate.

Gifted and Talented

We aim to ensure that children who display exceptional gifts and talents are provided for. Every year, the children with exceptional gifts and talents are identified by members of staff as well as their families. We particularly ask for parental  information about talents that may not have been picked up within school, such as sporting talent, artistic talent, cooking or other abilities. It is these skills that make our pupils individuals and we want to ensure that they have the opportunity to shine and also to further develop their skills. This process enables the school to ensure that provision is in place to challenge and enrich the learning of this group of children.

The school works to offer a variety of enrichment opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom, and aims to harness and develop the gifts and talents that our children display.

Our Gifted and Talented Co-ordinator is Mrs Sue Cox

Special Educational Needs

Children with additional needs are identified through a combination of observations of the children as individuals within their classes by our experienced staff, tracking the outcomes of assessments and through discussions with parents. Our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is Mrs Sarah Dingle who is in school most Wednesdays. She works with the class teachers and teaching assistants to create programmes of support that meet the needs of the child. If you wish to discuss your child's learning programme, please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher in the first instance and then should you require further information please contact Mrs Dingle.

We work with a range of external agencies to provide the best support for all our children. There are too many to list, but they include:

  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Dyslexia Support Service
  • Hearing Support Service
  • Social Communication Difficulties Team
  • Medical Professionals
