Last week in Class 2, the children investigated objects which represent different faith communities. We then considered which objects represent that we belong to a group.

In art last week, the children explored texture in nature. Using our outside learning space, they looked for interesting textures, for example on tree trunks, logs and play surfaces. They learnt how to use the long edge of a wax crayon to create a rubbing.

Last week Cl 4 rambled along the granite slopes of Rough Tor,investigating the scars and signs on the landscape and discovering the history and geology behind them.They were fascinated to learn that the deep troughs on the Bronze age pathway were created by tanks in World War II.

The children in Class 2 explored Golitha Falls; they retold the story of Hansel and Gretel through a physical journey, hunted for mini-beasts and other living things and marched down to the river to sit under the canopy of the trees and bathe in the beauty and calmness of nature.

Y5 students were privileged to be invited to the North Cornwall Book Festival at St Endellion.They meet the children’s authors Matt Windle, Roopa Farooki & Ross Montgomery, listened to excerpts from their books & had a wonderful time creating characters, poetry and many memories.

Members of our newly elected Pupil Leadership Team went to Trebarwith as part of National Beach Cleaning Week 2022. Their aim was to collect litter, find evidence of pollution and help raise awareness of the impact on our environment by humans.

At Finger Fit club this week we made salt dough - building strength in our hands by kneading, rolling and modelling!!

We ended our busy week of learning with a fun outside session playing circle games. A great way to learn more about each other whilst practising turn-taking and working as a team.

At the centre of our enquiry this term has been trees. This week, Class 2 looked at the growth rings of a tree. In Art, we used lines to sketch circle upon circle to replicate these growth rings.

During our first week in Class 2, the children were immersed in our Enquiry this half-term, focusing on a precious acorn and the beautiful oak tree that comes from it. In Maths, the children have been practising and perfecting their counting and knowledge of place value.
